Alan has completed defect assessment and integrity engineering for metallic and non-metallic pipelines,
ranging in size from DN100 to DN500.
As a pipeline engineer with WorleyParsons technical was provided to OilSerach for pipeline activities. The
original pipeline design methodology and the unique environment the PNG Highlands offer, provided distinctive
engineering challenges. He was required to assist OilSearch with tasks such as pipeline defect assessment,
calculating theoretical corrosion rates and expected pipeline remaining life assessment, provide pipeline preservation
options and provide concept studies for future pipeline improvement projects.
While with Origin Energy pipeine engineering responsibilities were varied and included maintaining static pipe
and pipeline integrity in WA, QLD and New Zealand. Standard operating procedures for pipeline design,
operation and maintenance were created.
Intelligent pigging surveys were completed alongside cathodic protection surveys and fault finding. Defect
(AS2885, ASME B31G, ASME 31G modified method) and coating assessments on high pressure gas pipelines and water pipelines.
Site work included supervising live dig ups and live remediation works.
Pipeline repairs both weld repairs and composite wraps.
